In the late 1800s, driven by a dissatisfaction with modern industrialization, artists were inspired to capture the beauty of nature. Curves were the thing, in contrast to the endless straight lines of modern architecture. The result was the Art Nouveau movement, which began around 1890 and lasted until around 1915.
