"French Bulldog" by Rembrandt Bugatti

This is an exceptionally fine bronze sculpture by Rembrandt Bugatti of his mother's pet French Bulldog.  It depicts the lively little dog, its head tilted and the body twisted as it readies to spring into action.  This is a sculpture that needs to be seen from all angles to appreciate the talent of the art.  Please be sure to click on the "View More Images" link above to see multiple views.

 

We were fortunate to be able to make a mold from an extremely rare original casting of this artwork.  Every original detail is intact, even Bugatti's thumbprints appear in the surface texture.  The foundry stamp "A.A. Hebrard Cire Perdue" is clearly visible, as is the number "2" indicating that this was the second casting of the total edition of just 3 castings.  Bugatti has signed the sculpture "RBugatti Paris 1905." 

 

We have cast French Bulldog in our own California art foundry using 18 lbs. (8 kg) of pure bronze.  The sculpture stands 11" high by 11" wide by 6" deep (28 cm high by 28 cm wide by 15 cm deep).  Each sculpture is individually stamped with its unique number from an edition limited to just 100 castings.
