"Percheron" by Antoine-Louis Barye
Item No: 143
This prancing bronze horse by Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) was directly influenced by Renaissance equestrian sculptures, particularly those of Bernini. While Barye incorporated comparatively little detail, the sense of movement and musculature are all that is needed to emphasize the dramatic content of the model. Percheron has been cast in our own California art foundry using 4 lbs. (2 kg) of pure bronze. It is mounted onto a marble base, stands 9" high by 6½" wide (23 cm high by 16.5 cm wide), and is signed "BARYE" in the bronze.
This is a top-quality bronze sculpture that is sure to last for hundreds of years. All purchases from Andevan Bronzeworks carry our guarantee that you will be completely satisfied or your money will be refunded.
